The 2021 Symposia on VLSI Technology & Circuits Presents Overview Videos for Virtual Symposia Program and Demo Sessions

The 2021 Symposia on VLSI Technology & Circuits has released a video highlighting their technical program based on the theme “VLSI Systems for Lifestyle Transformation.”

The 2021 Symposia on VLSI Technology & Circuits has released a video highlighting their technical program based on the theme “VLSI Systems for Lifestyle Transformation.” This year’s Symposia will be held in a fully virtual format with a worldwide accessible schedule from June 13–19 due to continuing concerns over the global COVID-19 pandemic, and on-demand content is available for registered attendees starting June 1 through August 31.

The 2021 Symposia on VLSI Technology & Circuits Overview Video, highlights several unique aspects of this year’s virtual program, including:

• On-Demand Content – Similar to typical technical paper sessions, these are 20-minute recorded presentations by the authors that include PDF slides available for download, as well as the option to post questions in the “Chat Q&A.” Authors will then be able to answer questions through chat or respond to them during the live sessions. Demo sessions (pre-recorded videos) are also available as on-demand content.

• Live Sessions – Presented during time slots compatible with a global audience, the Symposia live sessions will run from June 13 through June 19, and include the opening presentation, plenary sessions, award ceremony, panel discussions, and demo session Q&A. In addition, each author will present a live two-minute summary of their technical paper, along with live Q&A during these technical sessions. A complete overview of the live sessions program is available here

• Social Communications – New for the Symposia this year, this feature of the program uses the “Gather Town” platform to provide an opportunity for participants to interact with each other via demo sessions, and with presenters using avatars.

“The global COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the 2021 Symposia being presented in a fully-virtual format,” explained Symposium Chair for VLSI Technology Shinya Yamakawa. “However, the Symposia program still provides a unique perspective on the microelectronics industry by integrating the technology ecosystem of converging industry trends, and the advanced circuit design and application platforms that will realize the future promise of lifestyle transformation.”

Demonstration Sessions available on the Symposia YouTube Channel

The popular demonstration sessions are highlighted with several video previews presented on the VLSI Symposia YouTube channel here. All the accepted demonstration videos will be posted in full online as part of the conference’s on-demand content, and registrants can click through them and post comments, providing interaction between the authors and virtual attendees.

During this year’s Symposia, Short Courses will be held on June 14 and a special Forum will take place on June 19. The two Symposia – VLSI Technology and VLSI Circuits – have been held together since 1987, providing an opportunity for the world’s top device technologists, circuit, and system designers to exchange leading-edge research on microelectronics technology with alternating venues between Hawaii and Japan. A single registration enables participants to attend both Symposia.

The Symposium on VLSI Technology is sponsored by the Japan Society of Applied Physics and  the IEEE Electron Devices Society, in cooperation with the IEEE Solid State Circuits Society.
